Invitation to Clinics

We will send text messages or letters to patients who are eligible to receive a flu vaccination.

  • Text message: With a link to book an appointment at either of our clinics on the 5th or 12th October as detailed below.  The time slots are a guide to when you will be seen.
  • Letter: Where we are unable to send a text message,  we will send a letter inviting you to contact the surgery to arrange an appointment.  Please contact us between 2pm and 6pm, Monday to Friday.
 

Clinic Dates

All clinics are for pre-booked appointments only

Saturday 5th October 2024

  • Morning - 8:30am to 12.30pm Pre-booked appointments
  • Afternoon - 1pm to 3pm: Pre-booked appointments

Saturday 12th October 2024

  • Morning - 8:30am to 12.30pm: Pre-booked appointments
  • Afternoon - 1pm to 3pm: Pre-booked appointments
 

Please Note

  • Appointment times –  All effort is made to ensure you are seen at the time of your booking, however due to the volume of patients attending, times may slightly change
  • Clinicians Vaccinating - The vaccinator you are booked with may change on the day.

Patients aged over 65 will be seen on the ground floor – please queue at the main entrance. Under 65s will be seen on the first floor, please queue at the side entrance. Marshals will be present to direct patients to the correct queue. Exit is via the door at the opposite end of the building.

 

Eligibility

Only patients meeting the following criteria are entitled to a flu vaccination.

  • All people aged 65 years or over
  • All people aged 6 months to less than 65 years of age, in a clinical risk group: 
  • chronic (long-term) respiratory disease, such as severe asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or bronchitis
  • chronic heart disease, such as heart failure 
  • chronic kidney disease at stage three, four or five
  • chronic liver disease 
  • chronic neurological disease, such as Parkinson’s disease or motor neurone disease, 
  • learning disability 
  • diabetes 
  • splenic dysfunction or asplenia 
  • a weakened immune system due to disease or treatment 
  • morbidly obese (defined as BMI of 40 and above)
  • All pregnant women
  • Those who are in receipt of a carers allowance or who care for an older or disabled person
  • Household contacts of immunocompromised individuals
  • People living in long-stay residential care homes or other long-stay care facilities
 

How can you help?

  • To ease congestion, please attend on you own unless you need support or carer assistance
  • You may need to queue outside – please prepare for possible bad weather
  • Ensure your arm is ready for the vaccination
 

Additional clinics

We appreciate not all patients are able to attend either of these clinics. We will review and advertise additional clinics after the planned clinics have taken place. Please keep an eye on our website for updates.

 

Housebound and care home patients

As in previous years, known housebound patients and those living in a care home will be visited and vaccinated in their home.

 

Children

  • 2 year olds and 3 year olds will be invited for vaccination at the surgery separately. Text messages will be sent to parents
  • 4 year olds to 15 year olds will be vaccinated in school
